But alas, its not about him is it... This is about my opinions on machinima. Well to reiterate, id like to quote PaperBatVG on this one

Machinima essetially built this whole gaming scene by themselves, so even though they're not technically with them, people like the Yogscast wouldn't even be here without Machinima. So before you start following this modern day Hitler A.K.A Athene, stop and think to yourselve that without Machinima, none of this shit would be here. I just have faith that my Champs, Homies, Creatures, and all of you faithful and loving fans haven't gotten yourself involved in this mess. Long story short, if you receive a contract, you're expected to READ it before you sign it. If you don't tough luck. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to sign it, so if you do, it's because you decided to. You don't come back 2 months later and cry about how you don't agree with the terms. Welcome to the real world people, we all learned to read in elementary school, let's put that to good use shall we?"

In 95% of what is said I completely agree with. This kid just got too excited over the prospect of making money. Plus, Machinima shouldn't be getting all of this bad press over someone who needs to learn how contracts work. The one thing I still can't get my head around is this quote: "So before you start following this modern day Hitler A.K.A Athene..." That I don't get. Personally, I don't like Athene. Never have, more than likely never will. Although I care very little about him, I would never say or accept that he is equatable with a genocidal maniac who killed millions. Sure he was overly rash in leaving Machinima over this kid, but that's no reason to show general hatred. Not just to him, but to anyone.He himself said he meant no malice to Machinima. It' simply his fans throwing a shit fit. Really though, great way to clear the air. Love ya! :)
You are putting way too little faith in the machinima community to say "without M.com I wouldn't be here." To say "I wouldn't be here without them" is basically saying "I couldn't do it on my own and therefore needed someone to give me a piggy back ride." Plenty of people grew popular before M.com raped the machinima scene. And they did it on the merits and quality of their own work. Not because someone behind the scenes was pushing them forward because they appealed as a product they could sell to the masses.
actually no scrappy. they did not "rape" the machinima scene. they actually if anything, they made the way for the gaming scene in general. and it is generally true. without machinima, how would I pay for any of my equipment? How would i have become friends with chilled, ze, and galm? none of this would have happened if it werent for my introduction to the machinima.com directors program.
The whole down with machinima thing is total bullshit, machinima helps people, not only does it support the directors themselves, people like chilled, ze, smarty, they probably wouldnt be at college(or at least the colleges their at) without machinima. Machinima helps people, it pays them to do what they love. Athene needs to realise that his childishness will just get him defamed by the youtube community.
